Previously named “Seeds of Change,” this year’s annual fundraising event will be held in Renton, Washington, the soon-to-be-home of our new headquarters. This in-person event is FREE to attend and open to ALL AGES! No matter how you are connected to BrightSpark or the larger early learning community, we are excited for you to join us.

Donate early to help us grow our Spark Fund! The Spark Fund is a pool of funds donated before the event that ignites enthusiam amongst day-of attendees and serves as a foundation to our fundraising efforts. By donating early, you can ensure the event is successful and inspire others to support our work as well, all while contributing to our cause of creating a brighter future for ALL children.
Donations raised before and during our Annual Event will help us grow our pool of unrestricted funds – these funds are essentials to our financial structure as they allow BrightSpark to use these dollars at our own discretion. This flexibility ensures that we can cover the costs of programs and initiatives that are not otherwise funded through public or private grants, state or federal funds and other entities with restrictions and requirements tied to their dollars. BrightSpark offers programs like our Family, Friend, and Neighbor (FFN) program, our advocacy and coalition-building efforts, mental health support initiatives, and so much more that are reliant on unrestricted funding in order to operate. Unrestricted gifts support longevity, effectiveness, and even staff retention within nonprofits. Please consider giving early to help us reach our fundraising goal!

Why does BrightSpark follow a Community Centric Fundraising model?
Community Centric Fundraising (CCF) is an approach to fundraising developed in the Seattle area by community leaders of color, with the purpose of re-shaping fundraising and the non-profit field into one that is based in community and rooted in social justice. This means that organizations who follow this model are committed to prioritizing the needs of the community over their own initiatives; addressing racism in prejudice within traditional fundraising and outreach efforts; and valuing every contribution (whether it is a financial donation, in-kind donation, or time spent volunteering, etc) equitably.
