Capitol Courier: It’s Time to Celebrate!

We are ecstatic to announce that Proposal 1 was passed and the renewal and expansion of the Family, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) Levy was approved by Seattle voters!

This levy will fund the renewal and expansion of the Seattle Preschool Program (SPP), which will provide high-quality care to 3,000 total children from low-income families over the next 7 years.

A Popular Proposal with Voters

77% of Seattle voters approved the FEPP levy, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving families’ access to child care and elevating the quality of care throughout the city.

This win is a testament to the hard work put in by our community of advocates and demonstrates a growing understanding of the importance of early learning.

What is the FEPP Levy and SPP?

The Family, Education, Preschool and Promise Levy is a $1.3 billion dollar investment in education across the city of Seattle. Over 50% of these funds will go to early learning through programs such as child care subsidies, staff retention payments, and the Seattle Preschool Program.

The Seattle Preschool Program will connects children from low-income families to subsidized early learning opportunities. SPP’s accredited, evidence-based curriculum prepares children to succeed in kindergarten while offering specialized coaching to partnering child care providers.

Thank you, Every Child Ready!

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Every Child Ready for leading the efforts in this campaign to ensure Seattle continues its culture of investing in early learning and beyond!
