Are you a registered voter in Seattle? The Prop 1 will be on your ballot this November. This proposition renews the Family, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) Levy for the next seven years. Funds from the FEPP Levy support the Seattle Preschool Program and help families access child care as well as support the Seattle Promise for K-12 educational supports.

What is the FEPP Levy and the Seattle Preschool Program?
The Family, Education, Preschool and Promise Levy is a $1.3 billion dollar investment in education across the city of Seattle. Over 50% of these funds will go to early learning through programs such as child care subsidies, staff retention payments, and the Seattle Preschool Program.
The Seattle Preschool Program connects over 3,000 children from low-income families to subsidized early learning opportunities. SPP’s accredited, evidence-based curriculum prepares children to succeed in kindergarten while offering specialized coaching to partnering child care providers.
If this proposal is passed, the Seattle Preschool Program will be renewed and expanded for the next 7 years. If this levy is not renewed, this program will be permanently dissolved and over 3,000 children will lose access to this high-quality early learning opportunity.
From an SPP Provider:
“We don’t merely teach children, we empower them to become confident leaders, critical thinkers, and compassionate individuals. [The SPP] curriculum is thoughtfully designed to engage children in meaningful play, exploration and discovery – essential components of early learning. I have seen firsthand how this approach fosters creativity and resilience, allowing children to thrive both academically and personally.
When I see the spark of understanding in a child’s eyes or watch them form new friendships, I know we are laying a solid foundation for their future.“
