Trettin Early Learning Center is a non-profit organization providing high quality childcare for families in Seattle. The center is supported and housed in the University Congregational United Church of Christ. The non-sectarian program provides full-time, part-time, and drop-in childcare. The programs serve up to 85 children each weekday, ages 12 months through the time that they leave for Kindergarten. The organization provides a diverse, safe, and inclusive environment.

- Job Description
Responsible for ensuring and growing the pedagogical best practices of the school, supporting educators, children, and families, and contributing to administrative duties, including in-service planning, scheduling, and support around enrollment and hiring. A core focus of this role is ensuring that anti-bias and anti-racist practices are integrated into all aspects of the school’s pedagogy and operations. The Responsibilities: Pedagogical Alignment and Excellence Ensure quality and alignment of classroom teaching practices with Trettin’s pedagogical vision and best practices in the field, with an emphasis on anti-bias and anti-racist practices. Supporting Educators Participate in performance evaluations. Support educators in their anti-bias practices and approach in the classroom Consistently supporting teachers in the classroom by modeling best practices. Provide classroom coverage as needed. Support educators in reaching individual annual goals. Ensure staff are up to date on all DCYF licensing requirements. Facilitate team dynamics and effectiveness by fostering collaborative practices and ensuring alignment with the school’s values. Supporting Children and Families Provide resources and planning for children with additional needs. Build a network to bring in outside support and expertise when needed. Build relationships with families and attend teacher-family conferences as needed, supporting family engagement and culturally responsive communication. Support the enrollment process. Support the hiring, onboarding, and orientation of new staff. Manage the classroom teaching schedule, including absences, planning times, and breaks. Partnering with our cook for menu planning and supporting in Kitchen as needed. Note: This summary highlights core responsibilities; additional tasks may be assigned.
- Qualifications – Required skills and experience.
Minimum Qualifications: Five years of classroom experience in an early learning setting. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Demonstrated experience and passion for child development, anti-bias practices, childcare advocacy, and educational paradigms. Familiarity with DCYF licensing requirements. Reflective thinker who approaches challenging situations with a lens of inquiry, empathy, and curiosity. Well-developed interpersonal and group skills, collaborative nature, and outstanding communication skills. Motivated to take initiative and improve systems. Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance. Able to switch gears quickly and manage multiple issues with consistent clarity and thoroughness. Exhibits a high level of professionalism at all times. Kitchen/Menu planning experience preferred.
- This is a Full Time position. Compensation: $26-$29/hr DOE
