Transitions can be one of the most challenging times in the classroom for everyone! How can teachers plan ahead and individualize their classroom routines and schedules by anticipating potential needs for individualized support. Through self-reflection, small group discussion, and large group facilitated conversation, participants will learn to keep their intention on a positive transition that works for both child and teacher, making a more harmonious classroom.

Learning Objectives

After listening to a lecture on triggers for children, participants will work individually to evaluate what their own triggers are to demonstrate parallel process in building transition skills. After reviewing a variety of classroom schedule examples, participants will work in small groups and/or individually to create their own take home plan to demonstrate their understanding of how to make a schedule work for their individual classrooms.
